A stunning destination Sicily wedding with Letizia and Morgan on June 30th in Milazzo, Italy. Letizia’s family ushered friends and relatives from near and far into a rich and intimate Sicily wedding experience. Letizia’s bridal headpiece was made with vintage veiling and a handmade flower by Tree Marie of Love and Sass. Letizia’s vintage-inspired couture wedding dress by Claire Pettibone exquisitely complimented this Sicilian backdrop. Its European laces and embroideries combined with luscious silks, soft cotton, and couture details were breath-taking. And the Italian architecture didn’t fail to surprise us… their ceremony took place in a church off ocean cliffs that is actually a Sanctuary in a cave where Saint Anthony took refuge in 1221 during a storm. (The church is very old yet it had altars added and dressings of multicolored marble and low-reliefs in stucco). Cantica Nova sang soulful songs in Latin, Italian, and English. The melodies beautifully reverberated inside the acoustics of this cave.
Their reception was at Jalari Park, an outdoor art museum with massive rock sculptures. A historical museum in the mountain above Milazzo featuring an outdoor sculpture collection, traditional workshops, and a panoramic view of the surrounding hillsides, sea, and coastline. Jalari Park is a cultural, ethnographic and environmental park, built 25 years ago by the Pietrinis and the Giorgiannis in the Maloto district (Barcellona P.G.). The golden light at the end of June and massive red orange sunset cast angelic light all over the museum park and beautifully reflected in everyones eyes. Sicilians have a grand passion and talent for food details… 7+++ courses delivered by 20 servers coming from every corner of Jalari Park. Sicilian delicacies added flavors which go beyond verbal description. Our mouths drooled at the sea of traditional Sicilian dishes, offering an array of colors, spices, and flavors. The endless plates of antipastos, multiple flaming large fish covered in salt, risotto, heart shaped raviolis, calamari, fresh bread and cheeses, artistic fruit displays, jumbo figs, mouth dropping canollis, gelato ice cream, grand cake, fondue w/ chocolate fountain, champagne, and more! Surprise gypsy circus performers appeared doing flips, walking on stilts handing ladies extra large flowers, flame throwing, singing and playing music late into the night and early morning: 4:30 am! A dream Sicily wedding indeed!

Note: Jalari, which means “made of stone”, derives from the Arabic name of the district in which it stands. This harmonious place allows an interior route which starts from the “Confusion” (name of the first avenue) to the “Dreams” (name of the last avenue), walking through the other avenues of “Reflection”, “Revaluation of values”, “Sorrow”, “Love”, “Creativiy”……….. In the Park there are hundreds of stone statues, planned and made by Mariano Pietrini and original little houses which keep the laboriousness of the artisan masters. Every shop exalts not only the original tools but above all the masters who used them. In fact, the signboards are devoted to man, not to his art: “u sattu” (the tailor), “u firraru” (the blacksmith), “u spiritaru” (the man who makes spirit) and every shop has been built with the help of authentic local artisans. Finally, in the “Flavour and Taste Square” we can taste biological products and typical Sicilian dishes, rediscovering the millenary tradition of our country and appreciating the gastronomic and cultural patrimony of the Mediterranean Sea.
