Crystal and Phillips Oregon Coast elopement at Ecola State Park on Indian Beach was a sunny day surrounded by many rainy dark days before and after. Tree and I have been pinching ourselves because somehow “wedding magic” shows up on most of the weddings we’ve been honored to photograph. Perhaps it’s our rule to fully embrace whatever we are given and photograph the light and mood to its fullest however it turns out. Our motto is to love every moment, no matter what! It always works out, especially when a few unexpected things happen along the way. Crystal and Phillip got that wedding magic! So good!

Backup 2 months, On July 15th, 2020 Crystal and Phillip wrote us an email saying, “Phillip and I have decided to cancel our wedding. It is just way too much stress with the pandemic. Can you please give me or Phillip a call. Thank you.” Crystal and Phillip were originally planning to have a wedding at Silcox Hut atop Mt Hood at Timberline Lodge. They wanted to be cozy in the snow for their wedding. Yet the only consistency in life is change, and the pandemic happened. What to do? Let’s talk. We can help brainstorm and reimagine your wedding. When we first got on the phone Crystal and Phillip felt defeated. They wanted to stop all plans and just wait everything out, which given COVID 19 is a smart plan, especially with indoor activities. During our phone consultation, we listened and were happy to support them with whatever they wanted to do. Yet we also wanted to give them positive encouragement about safe alternatives. How about keeping things simple with an outdoor beach ceremony with an Oregon Coast elopement? Oregon fall days in September can be beautiful and you never know. No decorations are needed for a natural wedding outside with a gorgeous ocean behind you! Luckily we have photographed weddings on the Oregon Coast before and know the territory. We brainstormed beaches from Cannon Beach, Oswald West State Park, Hug Point, and Ecola State Park and researched how the tide would play a role in where a ceremony might safely happen. Ecola State Park on Indian Beach was their final decision for their small family-only ceremony. Following their ceremony, they adventured along the beach, cliffs, and forest for some fun and beautiful moments while everyone else caravanned to Cannon Beach for an outdoor beach reception.  This spot was perfect because it was easily accessible and just in time for an epic sunset. Everyone stayed at the Tolovana Inn, only steps away.
