Rebekah and Taylor’s Kansas City elopement began with lots of zoom calls. We love to ask questions, listen, and get to know people. We are always happy to talk about all of our technical skills and approach to photography, but honestly getting to know our couples is our secret sauce to capturing a great story. When Rebekah and Taylor said they were “looking for artistic photojournalists” and wanted a free-flowing organic experience we knew we were a great fit.
When we arrived in Kansas City, Rebekah and Taylor lead us right into their family experience. Meeting them at their home the day before their elopement gave us quality time to get to know them even more and ease in. Their daughter Vera is absolutely adorable and we could immediately feel the depth of peace and family kindness they share.
Since we arrived a day early in Kansas City we also took time to explore “adventure ideas” for them around the city. We scouted around The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kauffman Center, The Cross Roads Arts District, and Union Station. Pre-visualizing interesting locations to take our couples is always awesome, yet we also know that things can quickly change. Lighting shifts. Crowds appear. Sun leaves. Snow begins. Coldness arrives. What always works best is being ready to adapt organically to “what is” in front of us embracing all the small moments along the way. Rebekah and Taylor gave us trust on their day to allow us to ebb and flow with quality time to find those precious moments that became their story. We learn something new from every couple we get to photograph. Rebekah and Taylor’s Kansas City elopement taught us a new version of grace. Their relationship carries such love filled with so many positive vibes. We adore them.
