Our adventures exploring Iceland engagement photo ideas opened our eyes to a whole new world of wild landscapes, rich history, and language that makes us want to go back every year and learn more. It’s the land of fire and ice. It has one of the most geologically and volcanically active landscapes in the world. Can you believe it, this place has over 100 volcanoes. We have a growing curiosity and much to discover and learn. We can clearly see why the Game of Thrones was filmed here among so many other things.
While on our way to Europe we discovered Iceland offers extended layover options. We only had a handful of days but we were able to get out and explore. We began the night before by wandering through the low sunset light in the back streets of Reykjavík. The next day we started early (by the way, during June there is no nighttime) and explored the landscape by driving The Golden Circle over 230 kilometers (140 miles). We hiked under massive waterfalls filled with rich greenery and enchanting shape-shifting rainbows at Seljalandsfoss and Gullfoss. We drove to the far side of Iceland to Vik (where Game of Thrones was filmed) ran into some comical furry characters, and then circled back to the Blue Lagoon to relax in the hot springs. The Blue Lagoon is a world all by itself. And check this out, one guys sole job was to huddle near the edge of the pool and tell detailed Icelandic folklore stories to everyone all day. His name couldn’t have been more fitting: Atlas. So fascinating (FYI picture was taken with a fogged-up GoPro but priceless memory).
Our appreciation and admiration for this country have only begun. We can’t wait to take quality time to explore the full depths of Iceland. Some of these images are our “attempt” to blindly photograph ourselves while in other images we can see couples hiking through the scenery while we run hard to find creative compositions capturing them in the highest contrasting areas of the frame. Other times we see images combining both dramatic natural light while introducing our off-camera flash to creatively light up our subjects in the negative spaces of these compositions. We want to explore the depths of the ice, hidden caves, fjords, glaciers, lagoons, lava fields, steamy eruptions, and astrophotography. Iceland is the perfect place for an extended layover while heading to Europe. Stay for 4-5 days (or 2 weeks!) and enjoy this magical land filled with the most fascinating people, history, and jaw-dropping landscapes.
We are looking for curious couples to join us. If you are looking for adventurous lifestyle photos or are planning a destination wedding for 2022 in Europe that routes through Iceland let’s talk. From March 26, 2021, all travelers are welcome to visit Iceland if they can show a certificate of full vaccination against COVID. Here’s a link to check out Icelandair flights. We will be in Europe photographing weddings in Italy for part of the summer of 2022. We are happy to jump on a video call to help brainstorm and plan engagement photo ideas about where to go in Iceland for a full engagement odyssey. From daytime hikes to epic night photos; we are ready to go to the ends of the earth for an exciting expedition. This will not only be for beautiful moment-driven photos and creative portraits but an experience that will make you fall in love with its many hidden treasures. Below are a few inspirational compositions while scoping the landscape.

If you are a photographer looking for a “Destination Wedding Portfolio & Bootcamp Workshop” join us w/ Ralf Czogallik and others in Mexico this coming March 5-9th, 2023. It will be the perfect reset and take your photography and business to the next level.
Hi!
Ideally, a retreat host will escort us on a tour of the grounds, the spa, a wine tasting in the cellar and conclude on the view platform. If we can have a photographer, capture some candid shots, the proposal, and after celebratory shots.
Will you kindly share your availability and rates? Thank you.
With Gratitude,
Arkadiusz (AK)
