After visiting dozens of venues Katy and Derek chose to have their wedding at the House on Metolius in the heart of Central Oregon. This private estate has been a retreat destination for a little over one hundred years. The spectacular views of the Metolius River, Mt. Jefferson, Three Finger Jack, and the surrounding fields and trees made the perfect backdrop for their Oregon wedding. After getting to know Katy and Derek more we soon realized that this place reflected their personalities in so many ways: natural, relaxing, adventurous, beautiful, calm, playful, open, contemplative, and real to name a few.
Their wedding touched emotions that brought out incredibly moving tears and laughter. When they connected for the first time it felt like the canvas of the entire venue was made for them. Witnessing them walking through the fields near the river it. Seeing Katy walk with her father into the magnificent ceremony site through all of their family and friends to unite with Derek. The magnificent views of distant mountains. The crystal clear waters of the river. Big white billowing clouds in the blue sky. Friends and family with wide open arms hugging them at every turn. Family and friends dancing and singing late into the night. What more could one ask for? Simply gorgeous. This wedding goes to the heart of the lushness of Oregon. We were in awe.
