Do I need a permit to get married in the Gorge?
If your total guest count is fewer than 75 people—including your vendor team—and you’re not installing chairs, arches, or any temporary structures, you can hold your ceremony in the Columbia River Gorge without securing a permit.
Is wind a problem?
It can be—but knowing the terrain, timing, and sheltered locations makes a huge difference. As seasoned Gorge photographers we will guide you into all the right spots. We also know that a little wind can make for great dramatic beautiful images.
Can we do engagement photos in the Gorge?
Waterfalls, hikes, vineyards, and cliff views offer endless options. In most cases, you won’t need a permit as long as it’s just the you and a photographer, you’re not bringing props, arches, furniture, lighting stands, or large reflectors, you’re not reserving or blocking off any space, and you’re not disrupting other visitors—this type of session is generally considered casual recreational photography.
