Liz and Laurence live in Hartford, Connecticut so planning their Luxury Exchange Ballroom wedding in Portland Oregon relied on many experienced vendors from Portland. One of the most important vendors for them was finding The Exchange Ballroom and Cascade Rooftop atop the Eastside Exchange Building. It was perfect for the size and dynamic of their wedding, especially with Portland’s best catering and events company, Vibrant Table Catering & Events, who provided them with exceptional design, production, floral, and cuisine. This venue offered the perfect elegant backdrop for their ceremony and spectacular views of Portland downtown and skyline for their cocktail hour at sunset.
We had the best time getting to know Liz and Laurence through long video chats. We were thrilled when they asked us to photograph their entire story from morning til midnight. Creative wedding photojournalism is our specialty and having unlimited quality time allows us to find the best of the best moments. Liz and Laurence got ready at the Jupiter Next hotel which perfectly ushered them into some of Portland’s most culturally vibrant and artistic scenes. And before the Luxury Exchange Ballroom wedding ceremony, Liz and Laurence held a beautiful tea ceremony for both families to give their blessings in the early afternoon at a private SE Portland AirBnB. After the tea blessing, we walked with them through colorful Portland backstreets and even had quality time for them to enjoy a stroll along Portland’s east side boardwalk. On their wedding day, we discovered how Liz and Laurence share a depth of emotion and comical humor that shows up unexpectedly and makes everyone burst into uncontrollable laughter and tears. We had the honor of witnessing a far-reaching range of emotions that felt like a cultural journey. The playful joy in their friendships, the rich deep family love, and out of control humor these two share is absolutely hypnotic. Words can only say so much so we will let our photos reflect the feeling of their story.
